  • Notes
    • Norman was an able seaman aboard the cruiser HMS Black Prince. Black Prince had been damaged in an earlier part of the battle of Jutland, when the fleet's flagship HMS Defiance had been blown up. She had fallen astern of the main fleet.

When a line of ships was spotted in the distance, her captain Thomas Bonham assumed that he had caught up with the fleet. At half a mile diistant he discovered his mistake. The whole line of German ships opened fire. Black Prince was blown up with loss of all hands.
