Robert Ferguson married Ellen Singleton on 21 Oct 1906, at St Benedict Church, Everton, Liverpool.

Why Ellen's father's name is given as John, I have no idea. It was Henry, he was a van man, and there was no John Singleton with daughter Ellen in Liverpool!

We believe this to be Robert and Nellie, and believe it to be taken in celebration of their wedding. The photo is in the possession of Rob Henon, Bob's grandson. Nellie was living with Rob's parents when she died in 1958, and this was probably one of a number that she had kept for many years. The photo was possibly taken on their wedding day, 21 Oct 1906.

  • Notes
    • Allan caused his own death by pulling a pan of scalding liquid (soup according to his death certificate; water according to the family 70 years later) over himself, on 9th February 1918. He was just 9 years old. His mother had to carry him through the streets to the nearest hospital. She thought it was a good sign that he was not crying; the hospital staff informed her that the opposite was the case. Allan took 3 days to die from the shock. The coroner's inquest, on the same day, recorded a verdict of accidental death.
